Sometimes you have to do a little of both.

beforeThis is a perfect example of Myers Chimney at work.

This customer wanted a new wood stove to replace the big, ugly one they had.

They also wanted the stone work behind the stove to be drywalled or removed because it was too unsightly.

You can see from the before picture that the stove took up a lot of space and the hearth has a 2x4 around the edge - quite a trip hazard!

So I gave them the option of rehabilitating the fireplace, installing an efficient insert, chimney and chimney liner.

In the after picture you can see we removed / replaced all of the mortar and cleaned up the face of the stone. The hearth was also cut back to an appropriate size and tile installed. Tripping hazard gone!

They loved the idea as you can see!
